The Fact Remains
The fact that I was,
The fact that I am,
The fact that I will always be,
Will not change the fact that I will always be
For what I am cannot be compared to that one who never lived on “I Was'
For “I Was” reflects how one existed in ancient times,
How one was looked down upon
How one was compared to another one,
To this one, to that one
For what I was cannot change the fact that I now am,
For what I am cannot be compared to that one who still embraces “I Was”
For what I am reflects my future, were I am going, and how I’m gonna get there,
For what I am is I as I speak
For the fact that I was, for the fact that I will always be me, yes I,
The one they compared to something, the one they compared to someone,
Has conquered life’s heartaches,
For what I was then and what I am now, can never, could never, will never change the fact that I will always be me …………. …………………….
For I will always be. ……BLACK……….
