  • Are Science and Religion Compatible?

    Written by: frollypoo

The relationship between Science and Religion can be explained from two distinct points of view. Some would argue that scientific explanations are the only means of explaining our existence, while others would argue that religion and the story of creation found in Genesis I and II provide a sufficient account of the worlds conception.

Religion and science can co-exist and can both be used in determining the beginning of our world and its people. Religion and science both have the same basis, which are truth and understanding, it is this similarity that allows a direct relationship between science and religion.

Science provides answers that explain how certain aspects of our world came to be; through many theories and postulates scientists have analyzed and solved many ambiguities of our world. Unfortunately, science cannot be an effective tool when trying to understand why certain aspects of our world exist and what or who decided why it should exist. Science is ultimately the study of our existence.

The presence of unsolved mystery present in science can only be explained by religion. Religion states that the reason for existence was dictated by God, and that it was he who decided how and why people and the universe should be created. Some scientists accept that there had to be something manipulating the creation of life, which can be described as a higher force. Religion is the explanation behind why we exist.

When answering questions about existence, science and religion can both be used effectively together to find answers. Both points of view are of equal value and one should not be discredited over the other.

I agree... up to a point.

Science and religion will always be throwing answers back and forth, and it would be nice to say "Let's not have to choose, let's just accept a happy combination" or ""Let's pick and choose bits from both".

From how I see it (although to be fair I must be slightly biased, I'm a Christian), neither science or religion will ever have all the answers or be more knowledgable than the other.
    Only God has the answers.
This is not religion. You cannot confine God to a box marked 'religion'.
    ....Yeah smile
