  • Britney Spears - A Woman I Admire

    Written by: mosdefinitele

There are many women that have an impact on my life; however, the question is how many of them do I look up to? Of course the most obvious person is my very own mother, but that made me think who else deserves to join this circle of reverence. Some names entered my mind, but do I really admire them? It is clear that women that enter my daily life like Oprah Winfrey have an impression on me, but impact and admiration do not always go hand in hand. Then I realized who I really admire: Britney Spears.

The teen pop idol singer Britney Spears is a woman that I look up to for many reasons. She has tantalized the entire world's youth with her incredible voice. By doing so, she serves as a role model for many of the young people growing up in today's society. Although Britney is only 19, she already has had a major effect on a multitude of people. Not only does she reach the eyes of the five year old, but she also influences teenagers and adults alike. There are not many people who you have accomplished this phenomenon, which is why I give her my full respect. Britney is not only a singer, she is a mentor as well. Through her song writing, she has passed along her ideas and life experiences. In her song "Dear Diary," Britney gives a personal account of her encounter with a boy. "Dear diary/I can't get him off my mind/And it scares me/

'Cause I've never felt this way." Growing up, many of us have to face certain social anxieties and pressures. Through this song, it shows that she also has to deal with these feelings. This is an important message to send because many kids feel alienated growing. This song shows them that they are not the only ones experiencing these feelings. She has helped many people in this way through her singing. I also admire her because it is not easy for her to sing about her personal accounts knowing that she has such a large audience. This shows that she cares about the people she affects; the quality of a true role model. Another instance where this aspect of Britney shines through is in her song, "My Only Wish This Year" from the album Platinum Christmas. In one part of the song, Britney says, "Last night I took a walk in the snow/Couples holding hands, places to go/Seems like everyone but me is in love." This helps many kids with the process of growing up and maturing into adults. She shares her emotions with them which shows them that other people have similar struggles.

Through her brilliant writing and singing, Britney has proven to me that she has the true aspects of a role model. She utilizes the influence she has by using it as a medium to give advice. The combination of her amazing voice and her lyrics along with her important messages are what have caused her to bloom into a sensation. In my mind, Britney is a true role model which is why I admire her.

While not the worst essay I have ever read, this does rank within the top twenty. The mere fact that you've chosen to write about some pithy pop star as the woman you most admire is astounding. This essay is immature and unsuitable for anything more than an eighth grade assignment.

it's strange reading this "essay", while the style of writing gives the impression of an intelligent person, where as the content reveals someone who has a sheltered, deluded, and distorted view of reality. a grant you the fact that you chose a challenging essay, in the fact that it would be a challenge to prove to the reader that britney spears is worthy of being admirable, but unfortunately you failed. in the first place i doubt very much that miss spears got to where she is today because of her "amazing voice". in the image based, corporate world of modern pop music, the actualy quality of the singing barely comes into the equation. britney spears fame comes from the fact that she is sellable. i agree with you in that young people today look up to people like britney spears, but this does not instantly make her an inspirational role model. infact it's quite scary. in some ways it is not her fault, because she is just the face behind a money-making machine. her shallow lyrics show a complete lack of processed thought. this, of course isn't in the least surprising, as they would have been written in a very short period of time, but one of the people in the britney spears behind the scenes team, probably in the recording studio. as a musician and writer myself i find, as i'm sure many people do, the entire pop world very frustrating. the music business is an extrememly hard one. you have to prove to the public that you are worthwhile. and this means you have to put much time and effort into your music. people such as britney spears have music written for them which is totally devoid or any desire for quality. they are written purely for commercial purposes. if it doesn't sell, don't do it. this barely classifies as music. music is supposed to have some meaning. it didn't originate with the purpose of making people rich. it was supposed to evoke some emotion in the players, and listeners of the music. i feel sad when i realise that there are people who admire people like britney spears. i think it's a dangerous situation when it is people dancing around, scantily clad in a school, that young people look up to. i have nothing personally against britney spears, but in the way she is currently presenting herself, she is a poor role model. it's a pity not all people can see through the glossy sheen that is put on the goings on of this industry.

This essay is written well. Its just that i COMPLETELY disagree with everything this person has to say. Every song of Britney's sounds the same and it is doubtful that she writes her own lyrics. Why do you think they always remix her songs? and lip syncs? In acutuality she has NO talent whatsoever. She just looks fuckable and dances well. If she was 200 lbs with that same voice she would not be the star she is today. And what sort of image is she portraying for little kids? Its ok to be a slut and get breast implants then deny it? See her latest video? Looks like its been directed by a porn director. Shes a coporate tool to make money. And as for her message? How many other pop stars have come out saying the EXACT same thing?? Brilliant message? I think not. The content of this essay is completely trivial, coming from the mind of a superficial ignorant person. It is sad to see good writing skills go to waste.

When will people realise that the likes of Britney Spears, Boyzone - in short, prefabricated *musical products* (as opposed to actual musicians) are the creation of shadowy boardroom string pullers, more intent on making money than fostering a given individual's talent. Mosdefinitele and others should in fact be idolising suited fat cats in Britney's stead for, while no doubt she can sing better than I, I would stongly resist being the puppet of some no-faced corporate gear shifter whos purpose I was tailor made to serve. My comment here, then, is a small protest against the infiltration of ready made marionettes into the music industry, who then unwittingly stifle by their very presence the competitive performance of original, creative muscial acts.

ARE YOU KIDDING MEhuh?!!?? Britney Spears, and her "talent", is a tool the entertainment industry uses to make money, and has absolutely nothing to do with art. Britney isn't even real, for cryin' out loud.

Good writing skills,...opinions which are despicably unacceptable...Britney a role model? Posing half-nude on mag covers; doing a porn video for her song; denying breast implants...u call this a role model! Such a waste of u being a potential writer, and admiring 'amazing' Britney!

In regards to the future prospects for this young African American female, I am nearly speechless (luckily, I am typing, ha ha). I am forced to quote the great Gene Shalit, moustache extraordinaire (ha ha). "Her books were put down by most critics but readers would not put down her books."
She will soon soon be a great role model to all (males, females, 5 - year - olds, atheists, anarchists, caucasians, priests, monks, etc.), assuredly. Or shoud I say most definitely (ha ha)!!
